Social Studies Blast
An interactive, educational game show with a Social Studies twist!
Patterned after your student's favorite game shows on Nickelodeon and Disney Channel, Social Studies Blast is not a "question and answer" style game show, but rather a show with interactive, challenging stunts that get students actively involved. The games in Social Studies Blast can be related to Social Studies and elementary Geography. Students may be invited up in a challenge where they must dress up like a past American president, or catch ping pong balls in a crazy hat to build a diverse community on top of their head! Be sure to have a camera ready, because this assembly show is full of great "Kodak moments". It is interactive fun in a Social Studies assembly program that is age appropriate for grades K-6.
In addition to the Social Studies themes to the games, teachers appreciate the positive messages about teamwork, good sportsmanship and community that are reinforced as part of the friendly competition.
Social Studies Blast School Game Show Assemblies have a run time of 40 minutes, with 4-5 interactive games played during the program. As many as 25-30 students are invited on stage to be an active part in this assembly program. Those who are not chosen for the games are given equally important roles to cheer on their teammates and offer encouragement as their classmates work to win points for their team. The games played during Social Studies Blast are selected based on grade levels in the audience and may be tied to Social Studies tops such as:
- American Presidents
- Being an Important Part of A Community
- Population / Census Count
- Ethnic Diversity / America as a "melting pot"
- Great Lakes and Rivers of the US
- Teamwork
- Your role in your community
All the games and routines in the Social Studies Blast School Game Show Assembies are coordinated by two game show hosts who keep everything moving smoothly and safely. This is a larger show and is best presented on a gym floor.
"I have never felt so much positive energy coming from our student body. "- Morgan Elementary
""I was impressed with your management of the audience, and thrilled to see so many students laughing and smiling for the entire 45 minutes." - Sandusky Elementary
More information about the Social Studies Blast Assembly Game Show...
Social Studies Blast is a unique assembly program designed to highlight some of the core curriculum of Michigan, Ohio, Illinois, and Indiana elementary schools. It is a fun, energetic Social Studies assembly program that may be unlike anything you have presented in your school in the past. The show requires a minimum of a 15' wide by 15' deep space for performance. There are also some water elements in the show (don't worry, students stay dry!), and we therefore recommend that this program be presented on a gym or cafeteria floor. The show can be set-up and packed up quickly, so there is little interruption to classes or lunch hour that may come before or after the assembly.
Since the Social Studies Blast Game Show School Assemblies are NOT a question and answer style game shows, all students and grade levels can participate and learn without worrying about where the classes are in lessons. The Social Studies themes of community, teamwork, diversity, natural resources, and leadership can be applied to parts of classroom curriculum at all grade levels.
The friendly and lighthearted competition aspect of Social Studies blast reinforces the messages of good sportsmanship and teamwork. It is recommended that if your school needs more than one performance to accommodate all your students, that you have a mix of grade levels at each performance. This allows lower and upper elementary students to work side by side for common goals during the assembly. They support each other, encourage each other, and ultimately share successes and common excitement as the games progress - ultimately increasing good will and promoting unity between younger and older students in your elementary school.
The games in Social Studies Blast are always changing, with new challenges being added every school year. This means that there is always something new in this assembly and it is a program that you can bring back to your school every year - and one your students will look forward to have return.
Musical programs with Social Studies themes are also available for booking through our office.
